I have dedicated my career to recreation. I scuba dive, sail,
ride motorcycles, hunt, water ski and snow ski. I study history
and read extensively. I am involved in various organizations in
the community and have served on various boards. I own Lloyd Bailey’s
Scuba and Watersports and have employees that run the business
for me. I write my own schedule and have been self-employed since
1981.
So Why am I Running for Office?
I am running for County Commissioner because I believe that I
have a duty, as a citizen of Alachua County, to do whatever I
can to make a positive impact on my community.
My campaign is grounded on the fundamental purpose of government
and key issues concerning
Alachua County. My litmus test on specific issues
will be: is it a proper role for government or is it to be left
to the people?
I have been fortunate to live in the land of opportunity where
the greatest freedom and prosperity in the history of the world
exist. Throughout most of history man has suffered under tyrannical
and authoritarian governments. In our nation today we are losing
our freedom and the concepts of liberty have been forgotten.
The concept that money and property should be redistributed from
the rich to the poor, creating a more financially egalitarian
society for the common good of society is a lie from those seeking
power over our lives. Our founding fathers referred to our new
government as an experiment and worked hard to establish our freedom
in this country.
Our freedom is being taken for granted.
I have heard it said that you can have truth or repose and I will
not stand by and watch our great inheritance be taken away. We
have a responsibility to preserve and protect this great freedom
that has been handed down to us by our ancestors. If we do not
preserve our freedom, there will be no future for the generations
to follow. John Quincy Adams said, “Duty is ours; results
are God’s”.
I believe governments do not collect taxes to perform services;
they perform services as an excuse to collect taxes. As
Commissioner, I plan to better manage the citizen’s tax
dollars so that no more new taxes are necessary and we can actually
begin to reduce the amount being collected.
According to Frederic Bastiat in "The Law", professional
politicians believe that they are made of finer clay than the
rest of mankind and have received from Heaven intelligence and
virtue that place them beyond and above mankind. I am no different
than any other citizen of Alachua County desiring better roads,
less taxes and less government.
I am committed financially, emotionally and physically to serve
as your county commissioner. I will not be idle and watch my freedom
and property rights violated or those of my family and friends.
I have been involved in the fight for our freedom at the national,
state and local level and will never give up. In the last decade
I have personally spent over $15,000 dollars on local issues and
campaigns.
I need your vote and support to win this election! Please consider
a contribution to the campaign.
Every registered voter in Alachua County can vote for me…whether
it’s before work, on your lunch break or on your way home.
Thank you for your support.
