Lloyd W. Bailey moved to Gainesville in 1979 from Rocky Mount, North Carolina to pursue a degree in chemistry at the University of Florida. After teaching SCUBA out of his apartment for several years, he decided to pursue SCUBA instruction and sales as a career. Since then he has established the largest dive store in North Florida and is one of the most prolific SCUBA instructors in the area.

Lloyd has always had a strong interest in the betterment of his country and has been involved politically at the federal, state, and local level for many years. Lloyd is determined to make a difference in our government and feels that politics begin at home. He has served as an officer and board member for various local groups and committees, as well as teaching environmentalism and political education in all of his SCUBA classes.

Lloyd is married to Carey Bailey (a local veterinarian) and has a brand new son, Jack Lewis Bailey. They share their house with three dogs and two cats. He has a diverse list of hobbies, including snow and water skiing, sailing, scuba diving (of course!), and motorcycling and is licensed as a 50 ton master captain. He is also an avid reader of history books, focusing on those written about the founding era of our country.

Lloyd is an extremely hard-working and committed individual who truly believes in our great nation and would like to contribute to improving our lives in Alachua County. Please help us support his effort to become the next County Commissioner for District 3 by contributing or becoming a volunteer.
